Local Moves — Brisbane
Our standard local move rate covers two professional removalists and a fully equipped truck. All rates are Monday to Friday unless noted.
| Service | Rate |
|---|---|
| 2 movers + truck | From $195/hr Mon–Fri |
| 3-mover crew | Available — call for quote |
| Saturday moves | Small surcharge applies |
| Public holidays | Available with surcharge — call to confirm |
| Minimum booking | 2 hours |
| Fuel surcharge | $14 per local move |
How we calculate your invoice: The clock starts when our team arrives at your pick-up address and stops when the last item is placed at your destination. We round to the nearest 15 minutes — not up to the next full hour.
Interstate Removals — Per m³
Interstate jobs are priced by volume (cubic metres). Unlike brokers, we use our own trucks and the same team drives your belongings from origin to destination — no depot transfers, no third-party handoffs.
| Route | Rate (per m³) |
|---|---|
| Brisbane → Sydney | From $190/m³ |
| Brisbane → Canberra | From $260/m³ |
| Brisbane → Melbourne | From $320/m³ |
| Brisbane → Adelaide | From $340/m³ |
| Brisbane → Perth | Price on application |
Minimum volumes apply. All interstate quotes include a detailed volume estimate so you know exactly what you’re paying before you commit. Learn more about our interstate removals service.

What’s Included in Every Move
No matter the size of your job, every Relocation Rangers booking includes:
- Two professional removalists (or three, if booked)
- Fully equipped, modern truck
- Moving blankets, straps, and dollies — no extra charge
- Photo updates throughout the move
- Full public liability and goods-in-transit insurance
- No hidden fees — ever
- Same team from pick-up to drop-off, start to finish
What’s Not Included by Default
We believe in complete transparency, which means being upfront about what falls outside the standard rate:
- Packing materials — boxes, tape, and wrapping are sold separately via our materials bundles, or included in Expert Kitchen Prep
- Heavy specialty items — piano stairs, large safes, or unusual heavy items may require a specialist quote
- Council parking permits — if your property requires a temporary no-parking zone, the permit fee is payable to the council; we can advise on the process
If any of these apply to your move, tell us when you book and we’ll account for everything in your written quote.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you calculate the final invoice?
We charge for the time our team is actively working on your move — from arrival at your pick-up address to completion at your destination. Time is rounded to the nearest 15 minutes, not up to the next full hour. The $14 fuel surcharge and any booked add-ons are added as fixed line items. Your written quote will show the hourly rate, the estimated time, and every additional cost so there are no surprises.
What does the 2-hour minimum mean?
Every local booking has a minimum charge of 2 hours. If your move takes less than 2 hours — for example, a small studio apartment — you’ll still be charged for 2 hours. Anything beyond 2 hours is charged in 15-minute increments at the standard hourly rate.
Why is there a fuel surcharge?
The $14 fuel surcharge covers the cost of running our truck from our Coorparoo depot to your pick-up address and back at the end of the day. It’s a flat, fixed amount — not calculated as a percentage — so what you see is what you pay. We show it separately to keep the hourly rate clean and comparable.
Do you charge for stairs?
Standard moves include reasonable stair access at no extra charge. If your property has very high-rise stairs, a tight spiral staircase, or awkward access that meaningfully adds to the job time, we’ll flag this in your quote rather than spring it on you on the day. Piano moves on stairs always require a specialist assessment — call us to discuss.
What are the Saturday rates?
Saturday bookings attract a small surcharge on top of the standard hourly rate. We don’t publish a fixed Saturday premium because it can vary by job type and crew size — call us on (07) 3472 7573 or request a quote online and we’ll confirm the exact rate for your move.
Do you charge for travel time to and from the depot?
Yes — we charge from the time our truck leaves our Coorparoo depot to your first pick-up address, and again for the return trip at the end of your move. For most Brisbane suburbs this is approximately 15–30 minutes each way. We’re upfront about this in every quote so you can see the full cost before you confirm.
How accurate is the quote?
For most moves, our estimates come in within 10% of the final invoice. We lock in the hourly rate in writing, so even if the job takes a little longer, you’re never paying more per hour than quoted. The main variables that affect final time are access, elevator availability, and packing readiness on move day — we’ll discuss all of these when you book.
What is the cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or reschedules. Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice may incur a fee to cover crew scheduling costs. If something comes up, contact us as early as possible and we’ll do our best to accommodate you — (07) 3472 7573 or hello@relocationrangers.com.au.

How to Calculate Your Brisbane Removalist Quote
Getting an accurate estimate before you commit doesn’t require a site visit. Follow these four steps to work out your likely invoice range using our published rates.
- Estimate your move time by home size. Use the typical durations below as a starting point — a 2-bedroom apartment in good access takes roughly 3–4 hours with 2 removalists; a 3-bedroom house with stairs often runs 5–6 hours.
- Multiply by $195/hr. This is our published Monday–Friday rate for a 2-person crew and truck. Three-person crews are available for larger homes — call us for a quote.
- Add the $14 fuel levy. This is a flat, fixed fee per local move — not a percentage, not variable by distance.
- Add any confirmed add-ons. Kitchen Prep ($599), packing bundles ($258–$994), or piano at ground level ($250) are the most common extras. Each is fixed-price and confirmed in writing before your move day.
Typical Invoice Ranges by Home Size
These ranges are based on standard access conditions (street-level or single flight of stairs, no elevator delays, fully packed and labelled boxes). Complex access, partial packing, or multiple pick-up points will affect the total.
| Home size | Typical hours (2 removalists) | Estimated cost range | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio / 1-bed apartment | 2.0–2.5 hrs | $404–$502 | 2-hr minimum applies |
| 2-bed apartment or house | 3.0–4.5 hrs | $599–$891 | Add 30–45 min for stairs or lift |
| 3-bed house | 4.5–6.5 hrs | $889–$1,282 | Includes reasonable driveway access |
| 4-bed family home | 6.5–9.0 hrs | $1,282–$1,769 | Multi-level or difficult access may need 3-person crew |
All figures include the $14 fuel levy. Fuel levy shown as a separate line item on your written quote.
What Brisbane Removalists Actually Cost — Real Invoice Context
The most common question we receive after quoting is: why can two similar jobs have different final invoices? The answer is almost always access. A 3-bedroom house with a clear driveway, packed boxes, and good lift access in an apartment typically comes in at the lower end of any estimate. The same home with a steep staircase, a narrow street requiring multiple repositions, and a kitchen that wasn’t fully packed before arrival can easily add an hour or more. When you book with us, we walk through every access consideration so there are no surprises on move day.
Thinking about a professional packing service? Our Kitchen Prep Pack at $599 fixed price is the most popular add-on — it eliminates the single biggest cause of delays on move day. For full-house packing, browse our Brisbane packing services page. If your new home isn’t quite ready, our Brisbane storage solution starts at $150/week per 20ft container with no lock-in contracts. Planning a long-distance move? Our interstate removalists Brisbane page covers per-m³ rates, transit times, and what to expect on each corridor.
